Tanning tips
Know your skin type
Tanning happens when your skin gets two kinds of UV light. UVA oxidizes melanin, the pigment that gives skin its tone, and UVB triggers new melanin. Getting the balance right for your skin is what makes a good tan. The Fitzpatrick scale below is how we place you: lighter types start slow in a lower bed, deeper types can go longer and higher.
Exfoliate, use lotion, moisturize
Remove dead skin before you tan. Tanning lotion helps you tan faster and hold color longer, and keeps skin healthy. Moisturize before and after so skin doesn't dry out. A moisturizer with bronzer makes the tan look deeper.
Wear goggles and start slowly
Protect your eyes with goggles every session. When you're new, stay under the maximum time so you build color without burning.
